new bliss

Gotta say, I am loving the Savage Lovecast, the podcast version of Dan Savage's weekly sex advice column, Savage Love. Here's the main page at The Stranger (Seattle, represent!) and an iTMS link for subscription.

Now if there was only a freakin' podcast for Dr. Drew and Adam's Loveline, I'd be vicariously stoked for quite a while.

I want to be a gay man so I can marry Dan Savage.

Actually, I've had people tell me that I already am a gay man, just trapped in a woman's body. I would buy this theory, except I like my boobs and hips just as much as I like showtunes.

Well, if you were a gay man, and I was gay, I'd be very interested in being a Dan Savage.

...somehow that doesn't work. Let's just bless your hips and boobs and intelligence and verve and be happy about it.

I think if I were gay, I'd leap to Canada to marry Dan as well. Though he has appeared in the past to have issues with bisexuals that I think are overgeneralizations. I have found this to be a frequent issue among gays and lesbians.

Yep, bisexuals are the black sheep of the non-straight world. I understand where the animosity comes from, though, so I don't get too upset about it. Anymore. =D

What I sadly acknowledge is that every "out" group also seems to need a lesser out group to crap on. The gays and lesbians seem to take offense at bi's, but bisexuality seems like it SHOULD be the most natural, default position. So to speak. With so many liberals saying, "It's not a black and white world, it's grey," there should be room for grey sexuality. Sure, some people will be more het or more homo, but there are greys between those settings for any human.

Win.

Where do YOU see the animosity coming from?

[identity profile] clevermanka.livejournal.com 2008-05-29 04:34 pm (UTC)(link)
From people who are conveniently and temporarily gay when they get treated shitty by a member of the opposite sex.

From the girls who are college lesbians and then go marry a nice young man when they're done being undergraduate rebels.

From people who use bisexuality as a reason for not committing to a single person, when the real reason is they're just flat non-monogamous but won't admit it.

Those are top three in my opinion. I'm sure there are lots of other examples, though.

I knew a gay guy in college who was vaginophobic, several LUGs and BUGs (note: college boys suck, so I excuse many LUGs from indulging in het activity), and I see your #3 example as the primary choice of bad press for bisexuals. Jesus, just because Jerry Springer can find 100 fucking bisexuals who cannot commit even if a gun was held to their head, it doesn't mean everyone's that way.

Hell, not EVERYONE in Idaho's a nazi, youknowwhatImean?

And Dan Savage admits he's pretty damned vaginophobic himself.
