Sony plans new PlayStation 3 bundles // News:

A LittleBigPlanet 80GB bundle is also due in Japan, retailing for JPY 44,980 (EUR 327 / GBP 255) complete with a copy of the Media Molecule-developed title and two DualShock 3 controllers.

In addition, the DualShock 3 will also be bundled with a copy of LittleBigPlanet for JPY 7980 (EUR 58 / GBP 45), and also available in silver, black and white.

Have a feeling the bundle will help the game more than it helps the system. Seems to be Sony's intention here.

They'll have plenty of opportunities to boost their system, but building the reputation of an IP doesn't come nearly as often. A system bundle might get the game into the hands of holiday purchasers who may not otherwise buy the game, buy may buy the system.

When's Sony's REALLY interested in getting their system off the ground, then they'll take more aggressive measures.

Bundles have always struck me as stopgap measures. The real deals come with price drops or with the really huge, well-known IPs. LBP is still a bit of an unknown player. It may bomb or it may not. The consensus on GAF is very mixed.

I just bought my PS3 off Amazon, so that should be reason enough for you to buy one so that we can be PSFriends. :) Unfortunately, I don't think we get bundles over here. I also don't think that Little Big Planet will be a system seller.

I was browsing the PSP 3000 on Amazon, comes out next week. The widget that tells you "Frequently bought together - buy both by clicking here" claimed that most people who bought the PSP 3000 bundle with the mem card upgrade also bought the PSP 3000 bundle that comes with Ratchet and Clank. Yes, a lot of people apparently buy TWO consoles.

Amazon is lying.
