I just interpret that to be a way of limiting the number of characters, reducing confusion, and broadening its appeal. It is already pretty crowded with Captain Reynolds, Wash and Zoe, Jayne, the doctor, and The Living Weapon River... Oh, wait. That's /everyone/ except Book and Inara.
I think they just got Gilligan's Island "and the rest"-ed out of the trailer. Sad!
Me or it? I assume the release date is for the movie. I imagine, since the series hasn't showed up in Japan, that the theatrical release for it will be substantially later, if at all. It will probably be a year from the US release that will see it either in theaters or on DVD.
My best plan to-date would be to arrange an early October business trip...
She's actually in a couple scenes. I'm pretty sure that's her in the temple. There is another shot with her and the captain looking out over a vista together. She is also seen brandishing a bow and arrow, if I am not mistaken.
I postulate that Book is actually "re-imagined" as the Assassin.
