When Your Cellphone Is in My Space - New York Times: [the other michael]
Yes, it’s true: as James Katz, director of the Center for Mobile Communication Studies at Rutgers University, says, “If anything characterizes the 21st century, it’s our inability to restrain ourselves for the benefit of other people.”
Cellphone use is but one manifestation of this unhappy fact. Or maybe it was always so, but with more of us living in closer proximity, today it’s more obvious.

Some guy was complaining about how he didn't get Gmail's IMAP service immediately, even though he is a paying Google Apps Customer. Interesting; I didn't even know that you can pay to use Google Apps. I thought it was just... stuff... there, in the web. Oddly, I've been HOPING that Google would roll out the Gmail solution for companies, because it seems like it would save time. I just wasn't paying attention. Man, Google Calendar plus Gmail should beat the pants off MS Outlook, shouldn't it?

It sounds a bit like the Red Hat Linux model: you can use it for free, but support costs money. And there's other stuff... wow, I have to take a look at this later.
