Electronic Arts Acquires Hasbro LicenseI've been wondering when this would turn up. It seems like this should be a natural license to bring to games; I wonder what has taken so long? For the current demographic of older male gamers, GI Joe is a nostalgic brand with a lot of history both in the toys and in the animated series. Taking this in line with the movie is a big, big mistake, as it is tied to whether or not the movie is any good. Instead they could tie it to the toy and animated series, avoid being tied to the movie release date, and enjoy a longer use of the license.
Electronic Arts has announced a partnership with Hasbro to create a series of games based on the company's popular brands of toys for consoles, PC and mobile platforms. Interestingly, while the press release made no mention of a G.I. Joe video game -- the one Hasbro toy line most gamers would probably think is due for a game adaptation -- Variety confirms that a G.I. Joe game is indeed part of the deal, as well.

Joe game isn't based directly on the classic line of action figures, but rather on the upcoming live-action movie adaptation.
