I've watched the premiere and Ep. 2, and am about 15 minutes into Ep. 3. There are hints of greatness - I see the outline of the "what does it mean to be human?" philosophical question, and plenty of riffs on "we are what we make ourselves to be" as well as "you might not choose your situation, but you can choose to react to it well or poorly." But in the first two episodes, it has been just hints.

I want it to continue, but it feels like it's going to be canceled. They need to maintain a little more consistency, and maybe edit it so it doesn't feel like it's jumping. There are a couple things in each episode which are just announced, and it feels like there is a scene missing in those cases. And as much as the younger sister is rocking the Katie-Holmes-before-she-drank-the-Cruise-juice look, the show might be a lot better if they just WHACKED her out of nowhere and gave Jaime a big shove toward questioning her life's stance.

I hate to tell you, man...it goes downhill. Fast. Despite a rather charismatic performance by the lead actress (yet another Brit playing an American better than Americans do -- see Life, House, Journeyman, etc.), the show meanders. Too much style, too little substance. The pacing is just...off.

Journeyman is another disappointment. The lead actor was frickin' brilliant in Rome, and he's just as good in this, but the show is too formulaic. All of Quantum Leap's possibility, none of its charm.

If you get a chance, watch Life. That show kicks major ass.

So if Tom juices up kids, is it "Children's Cruise Aide"?

Upon my one and only viewing (of the season premiere) I was intrigued - but amazed at the huge loft that she was able to afford on a bar tender's salary. In SAN FRANSCISCO, for Chrissakes.

I liked Sarah Corvin's character - a bit of Number 6, a bit of Starbuck, and a bit of a little girl.

But the overall concept just seemed like BSG lite - not very appealing to me for some reason.

BSG Lite is a good description, and the fact that it's at NBC probably has something to do with the kid gloves.

I like Katee Sackoff a lot, but she's been strapped with some difficult dialog, and her character also gets hit with those missing transitions I mentioned. One moment she's acting very emotional, and the next moment she /announces/ that she has no emotions. Then again, that delivery and sly grin was astounding as she gave when asking Jaime if, perhaps, Sarah Corvin smashing into the car was possibly some bit of pre-programming that Sarah was just following through on.
