list of what i bagged on the US trip )
Just a quick note on the restoration of my faith in humanity, or at least Gamestop and the retail game shopping experience: Both shops on this trip were immaculately clean, nothing on the floors, most of the games were in clean packaging without those ghetto DVD-case-inserts, the games were in alphabetical order on the shelves, and the staff were friendly and helpful without being invasive, pushy, condescending, or distracted by other employees. My time in the Gamespot stores on this trip were easily the best experiences I've ever had shopping for games in a retail store. I'd believe it was all just a dream, except the games are all on my shelf at home.

During last week's vacation, I thought it would be cool to leave my watch in Japan and just let each day pass as it might.

Instead I ended up annoying my wife by asking her what time it was, several times a day.

Nippon 2007 Worldcon Home Page : I want to go. I don't have the resources (meaning "time") but I want to go. I'm just deluded enough that I think I'd end up having beers with Cory and Charlie. But I'm guessing they, at the Con, will have their time more spoken-for than mine already is. :-/

Back from the U.S., and spreading HIV in Mexico - International Herald Tribune:
But AIDS is spreading quickly in rural Mexican states with the highest migration rates to the United States, researchers say. The greatest risk of contracting AIDS that rural Mexican women face is in having sex with their migrant husbands, a new study found, a problem that is compounded by the women's inability to insist that their husbands use condoms.
One of the women in the emergency room at the hospital, a 25-year-old mother who did not want to be identified, described how her husband had infected her after returning from a long stay as a migrant worker in Washington State.

(...) She found out she carried the virus only after giving birth to a baby girl who was born with HIV and died. An older daughter also has the virus. She and her husband have since separated.

Seeking light
The advisor has suggested the optimum time to expose yourself to light. Light is important because it is one of the primary cues that the body clock uses to maintain it’s link with the outside world.

When it comes to seeking light, any kind of light will do. Daylight is best, but if it’s not available, simply switching on a bedroom light is sufficient to help you minimise the effects of jet lag.

Avoiding light
Avoidance of light at certain times is also an important cue to the body clock to help you recover more swiftly from the effects of crossing time zones.

Avoiding light can be achieved by drawing the blinds or curtains in the room you are in, or wearing an eye mask. If there’s nothing else you can do, then simply wearing dark glasses will help.

Meals and exercise
In addition, adjusting your exercise and main meal times to your new time zone will help to synchronise your body clock sooner.
